A Writing Update

An interlude where I share some of the things happening for me with my writing work.

Today’s post isn’t my usual reflections and musings, but rather an update on my writing and some links to some things I have been doing. I’ve been fairly busy with various life and writing things. I recently did a two-part series at Growing Faith where I talked more about the value of memorisation for faith, and specifically, teaching my toddler the Lord’s Prayer.

But I have also been doing more behind-the-scenes writing and editing work. Now that I have more regularly scheduled time where my toddler is being cared for by someone else, I’ve been able to take on some more freelance work in this area. This year I’ve had the chance to edit a few manuscripts and use my writing abilities on a couple of different projects. Some of these will never be ‘public’ but some I will be able to share with you eventually (as a teaser: if you liked my posts about Taylor Swift lyrics, I have a much bigger TS and faith related project coming sometime in the next twelve months!)

With my more public writing, I’ve had lots of opportunities because people can see I am in the world and writing out loud, here and elsewhere. But the editing and copywriting work is much quieter, and so tracking down opportunities can be harder. So, part of the reason for this post is to make more public that I am available for writing, copywriting and editing work. As a freelancer I have an ABN (Australian Business Number) and am getting good at the ins and outs of the admin of this kind of work. I enjoy it, it fits flexibly into my life, and as people continue to hire me, I must assume I am doing a good job.
